  1. Meet the following General Requirements:
    1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
    2. Must register with the Florida Department of Health, Office of Medical Marijuana Use
    3. Must be a Florida Resident.
    4. Must have tried other treatments without success, and ordering physician must determine the risks of medicating with cannabis are reasonable in respect to the benefits to the patient. Essentially, the physician must determine that the benefits of medicating with cannabis outweigh the risks.
    5. Authorization for release of health information for the doctor treating the patient’s debilitating conditions.
    6. Must specify release ONLY of records related to the qualifying condition.
    7. Records MUST BE CURRENT: the practice only accepts patients who have been diagnosed and/or treated for the condition in the past 12 months.
  2. Schedule an appointment with of our office.
  3. Arrive on time for your evaluation and recommendation appointment with Dr. Ryan.
  4. You are required to send the State of Florida your completed Medical ID application along with your $75 application fee and a copy of either your DL or state ID card.
  5. The State of Florida will provide your permanent ID number via email. You can use the email from the state to obtain medical cannabis until you receive your physical ID card. Just be sure to print out a copy of the state approval letter before heading over to a dispensary to pick up your medication.
  6. You are now a qualified patient and can purchase medical cannabis products from any dispensary in the state.
  7. A physical ID card will be mailed to you at the address on your application.
  8. Use the state verified email until you receive your physical ID card in the mail.

Here’s how to get medical cannabis in Florida:

  • If you have a qualifying condition, or think you might have a qualifying condition, schedule an appointment with our office.
  • Complete all necessary patient paperwork and return to us with relevant medical records from your diagnosing physician.
  • Be prompt for your appointment with the doctor. If it is your first visit, please show up at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Completion of the online paperwork will facilitate less waiting time in the office.
  • If you are qualified, our physician may issue the medical cannabis recommendation to the state of Florida.
  • Our physician will then enter your information into the Office of Medical Marijuana Use state registry.
  • Once you are entered into the OMMU state registry, the state will email you a temporary password so that you may access the system. (Check your spam or junk folder). Fill out the online application and make payment and upload your DL or state ID card.
  • Patients and their Caregivers will then apply for their Registry Identification Card Patients and Caregivers may complete an electronic or paper identification application, as well as submit the $75 application processing fee to the state.  Electronic applications process within 10 to 12 business days. Please allow more processing time for mailed in paper applications. Please let the office know if you are planning to use a paper application. We can help you with that process.

  • Receive your approval letter in the mail, which you can use until your ID card arrives.
  • Pick up or place an order for medical cannabis from a certified medical marijuana treatment center/dispensary.
